AACSS Conferences affirm that African women are powerful in themselves, yet in response to the HIV and AIDS pandemic a lack of resources has limited their ability to come together. The basic objectives of AACSS have to do with overcoming these limits.

AACSS conferences help to enable their participants:

· To transform attitudes that they believe impede effective responses to HIV and AIDS,

· To gain an increased knowledge of HIV and AIDS issues,

· To develop personal and communal plans of action,

· To create mutual support by networking after the conference.
